MODERN EYES
An inner city Austin optometry office located near the University of Texas campus, the design of Modern Eyes matches the office's business plan: providing state-of-the-art eye care in a contemporary environment using the latest technology.
The office occupies a 2,000 sq. ft. lease space rejected by other tenants due to its unusual layout where the space wraps around the building's elevator core-- a feature that the architectural team utilized as a primary design element, aligning the front desk at an angle that matches that of the elevator wall.
Using an intentionally simple palette of inexpensive materials matched with concrete stucco in the optical and frameless glass at the pretest area, this cold-start practice employs materials and forms that provide a clean, simple, contemporary interior environment appropriate to its collegiate location.
"Patients and reps frequently compliment the design and layout of the office." (Dr. Sonja Franklin)
Recognized for its creative and efficient design, Modern Eyes was the winner of Review of Optometry's "New Look" competition and has been published in Invision Magazine.
